FAQ's of Saybolt Viscometer:
Q: How do you operate the Saybolt Viscometer SV-01 for viscosity testing?
A: Begin by filling the double-walled bath with water up to its 5-liter capacity. Place the sample in the 60 ml cup, select the outlet jet (Universal or Furol), and set the thermometer for your desired temperature within 0-100C. Power on the 500 W heater and allow the mechanical stirrer to maintain constant speed. Start timing once the sample flows through the selected jet, using the analog display to capture the measurement.
Q: What types of samples can be analyzed using this viscometer?
A: The Saybolt Viscometer SV-01 is suitable for measuring the viscosity of petroleum-related products, lubricants, and similar laboratory samples that fall within the measurement range of 30-6000 seconds Saybolt Universal (SUS).
Q: When is it necessary to use the Universal or Furol outlet jets?
A: Use the Universal jet for lighter oils and the Furol jet for heavier oils, as specified by ASTM and other standard testing protocols. Selection depends on sample type and the test method required for compliance or research.
Q: Where is the Saybolt Viscometer SV-01 commonly utilized?
A: This viscometer is primarily used in laboratory environments, including research institutions, petroleum quality control labs, and industrial testing centers across India.
Q: What is the measurement process to determine Saybolt viscosity?
A: Prepare the instrument by setting up the bath, sample, jet type, and thermometer. Heat and stir the sample to a specific temperature, then measure the time for the liquid to flow through the jet. Record the viscosity value using the analog display, ensuring accuracy with 0.5C temperature precision.
Q: What are the benefits of using stainless steel and glass wool insulation in this equipment?
A: Stainless steel offers superior corrosion resistance and durability, while glass wool insulation maintains stable bath temperatures and enhances operational safety. These features extend equipment lifespan and ensure consistent viscosity measurement results.
